About the instructors:

David S. Katz, a former Senior Special Agent for the Drug Enforcement Administration, is an expert in conducting complex international criminal investigations, high-risk arrests, undercover operations, physical/technical surveillance, and intelligence analysis. A recognized authority in the field of law enforcement arrest and defensive tactics, Katz spent four years as an instructor at the FBI/DEA academy at Quantico and has provided training to police and special operations units around the world. He is the CEO of Global Security Group, Inc.(GSG), a company specializing in security consulting, crisis and risk management, specialized training, protective services, investigations, and counter terrorism. David is co-author of Executive's Guide to Personal Security (Wiley & Sons, Inc.), "Personal Safety While Traveling Abroad on Business" (Loss Prevention Magazine) and many other published works. He is a frequent guest on Fox News, CNN and other national and locally broadcast television and radio programs.

Mark J. Novak is a retired Captain with the NYPD and is the president of GSG. Novak spent over twenty years in the NYPD during which time he responded to hundreds of large scale incidents and emergencies throughout New York City. From 1997 to 2001, he was a member of the NYPD's COBRA team which was trained and equipped to respond to a chemical, biological or radiological attack or release within NYC. Throughout Mark's career, he received extensive training from agencies such as the NYPD, the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and the City's Office of Emergency Management. Topics included physical security, critical incident preparedness, counter terrorism, the national incident management system, hazardous materials, chemical nuclear and biological weapons, disorder control and emergency management among others. Mark was also assigned to the security details for the last three United Nations General Assemblies, the World Trade Organization Meeting in 2002 and the Republican National Convention.
