Counter-terror driving

Prerequisite: EVOC

This program covers the emergency techniques that must be employed to avoid deliberate attack. The program will discuss in detail case studies of attacks on vehicles and focuses largely on targeted acts of terror. However, these techniques are also effective against common criminal acts such as car-jacking, road rage etc. EVOC techniques will be reviewed with special emphasis placed upon application to terror attack. Other course topics will include:

  • Terror methods of attack against vehicles
  • J-turns (reverse 180)
  • Bootleg turns (forward 180)
  • Vehicle advances
  • Principles of route selection
  • Defeating a roadblock or barricade
  • Surveillance detection and termination
  • Defeating a moving block
  • Hi-speed escape and evasion

The program, while not including range time, will also cover tactical exit from the vehicle to deploy weapons or repel attack. A discussion of armor options is also included.
