Tactical Carbine
Duration: 3 days
Venue: Classroom and range
Prerequisite: Active law enforcement or military or authorized security professionals
Required equipment:
- M-4 / M-16 .223 carbine or variant, sling, 4 magazines.
- Semi-automatic pistol, strong side hip holster, 4 magazines, magazine pouch (worn on support side), 1,800 rounds of ammunition (carbine) and 150 rounds of ammunition for pistol.
This is a developmental course and will cover the fundamentals of using the carbine. Topics will include:

- Weapon description (nomenclature and operation)
- Breakdown, assembly & maintenance
- Loading / unloading
- Sight alignment & sight picture
- Stance
- Trigger control
- Slinging the weapon
- Ready gun positions
- Basic shooting drills
- Reloading drills
- Semi-automatic fire
- Controlling fully automatic fire
- Multiple targets
- Moving with the carbine
- Shooting on the move
- Barricade shooting
- Distance shooting
- Low-light shooting
- Clearing malfunctions
- Transition to handgun
